Checker-board blanket

When I was younger it seemed like everyone in our family had gotten a knit blanket from my grandma. This year I taught myself to knit so that I would be able to return the favor and knit her a blanket for Christmas. Shhh.  Don't tell :)

First attempt at screen printing

I have been meaning the learn to screen print for years now.  And FINALLY I got a kit to do so. Friends of ours got married and asked for some help making a small gift for the wedding party.

For a first attempt I think it went fairly well considering this project took place after the rehearsal.. Here's what I will be keeping in mind next time:

1) Be careful to cover the entire screen with the photo emulsion - every bit counts
2) Make sure there is time for the screen to dry before it needs to be used.  This will take a few hours.
3) Use clear tape to hold the transparency onto the screen while burning (duhh....)

Dog toy.

There are a bunch of people in our lives that have dogs and are always on the lookout for sturdy chew/tug togs. So I thought I would try my hand at making a few.

*update*
Dogs like them.  If the toy was put away after use it lasted longer. Puppy teeth still did a good job of shredding it after awhile. Next attempt will include some sort of handle.
